corona land

my friends and i took a trip to mexico for our spring break. we didn't want to do the stereotypical cancun trip, we wanted to explore the culture over there and with our friend from the heart of mexico, we thought it was a great opportunity for us to get a legit tour.

one of my favorite shots taken in the city of queretaro:

one thing i noticed most about mexico was the amount of cathedrals around the area. i'm not a big fan of cathedrals, maybe because i'm not religious, but i have always loved their details in their glass mosaics. i started to get addicted with photographing them...

these were shot in the bathroom while we were on tour in guanajuato:

the rest of these were shot in a cathedral at guadalupe in mexico city:

and last but not least, my self portrait:

you don't always need a fancy, expensive camera to get good shots...

(shot with the Canon Rebel XT and natural lighting. none of these images were edited. thanks to tiare for taking care of us and showing us a great time!)

my phase three self portrait:

i'm at the period in my life where a lot of things are getting complicated, from relationships to my future. i often feel like if i was a man, my life would be so much easier...

(shot with the Mamiya 645AFD II medium format camera with the Leaf Aptus 22 Digital Back and 2 soft boxes. thanks marica for helping me with the shot!)

my escape

this project means a lot to me. growing up, my room has always been my place to escape from the crap i was going through in my life. it was a place for me to be myself.

the following images are from my personal project entitled, "my escape". i am also submitting these for our "additional personal submissions" assignment at school (which are 7 images relating to our future goals after we graduate with no rules and 1 self portrait for phase 3):

Photobucket
"my room is the only place i can feel completely comfortable and be myself. i can do or be whatever i image and no one is there to judge me. i can lock myself in whenever i want and blast the music, dance naked, watch a movie, cry, draw, anything really. i think my room represents who i am and i wouldn't want to change that." - jacquie puoci, 23

Photobucket
"all of the junk in my room shows a story of my life, photos, posters, movies, books, those things have shaped me as a person because these things are constantly around me. so in reality its not junk that fills my room...its memories of my life." - zack brescia, 19
